Hydro Thunder

Compositing and illustrating graphic effects.
(water, spashes and "special effects" to the in
game, low poly boats).

About:
I received the boats from the Hydro team. I then
went into 3DS Max to setup the scene as to
match my sketch composition, then rendered
the boats and brought them into photoshop.  I
created and rendered the water in Lightwave
and the painted splashes in photoshop as well
as the other illustrated details (gloss,
reflections, etc).

The game team was very pleased with the
result and with the finishing touches which I
illustrated on their boat models.


DETAIL:
As you can see in the detailed image, there is
plenty of work done to make these boats much
more attractive! Specular highlights, reflections
and edge smoothing are just to name a few.
